Gramvousa & Balos

We offer you an excellent tour to Gramvousa and Balos. On the way to the west of the island we will make our first stop near the city of Rethymno, where we will have the opportunity to have coffee or breakfast. Further, we will continue our journey to the port of Kissamos, from where our exciting sea voyage will begin.

The first thing we will see is a huge cave, most likely an ancient shipyard, sea turtles and dolphins. We will also witness an impressive geological phenomenon: the rise of the western part of the island 6–9 meters above sea level and the simultaneous plunge of its eastern part. We will land on the island of Gramvousa, also known as the “Pirate Island” and once served as a refuge for the rebels of the island, and immediately admire the natural beauty of this place! The main part of Gramvousa Island forms one of the most significant aquatic habitats of the eastern Mediterranean, since here you can find more than 100 species of birds and 400 species of plants. We will be able to visit the famous Venetian fortress, built in 1597 on top of a sheer cliff – the highest point of the island. After exploring the area, we will have enough time to enjoy swimming on a magnificent beach full of amazing color, take a few pictures of the famous sunken ship or have lunch on board the ship (optional). At the beginning of the afternoon we will head to the lagoon of Balos – one of the most beautiful places in Greece. The view of the lagoon is really captivating and reminds exotic Caribbean beaches. These few hours of solitude in such a heavenly place will forever remain in your memory.
